Audrey Chen
Audrey Chen is a multidisciplinary visual artist whose practice explores memory, identity, human relationships, and the complexities of personal experience through painting, photography, sculpture, and mixed media.
Her work explores the uncomfortable, challenging conventional ideas of representation and perfection. Drawing from personal memories, familial relationships, and everyday observations, Chen explores the emotional significance of seemingly ordinary moments, finding meaning in imperfections and contradictions.
Working across traditional and experimental mediums, Chen approaches art as both a means of self-expression and a way of questioning familiar perspectives. Her practice embraces ambiguity, inviting viewers to reconsider their assumptions and discover beauty in the unexpected.
Chen is currently a student at The Peddie School in Hightstown, New Jersey, where she serves as Art Editor-in-Chief of Amphion, the school's art and literary magazine, and as a gallery assistant at the Mariboe Gallery. She has further developed her artistic practice through programs at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), Interlochen Center for the Arts, and Sharron Art Center.
Chen is a 2025 National YoungArts Winner and a two time Scholastic Art & Writing Awards National Gold Medalist. Her work has also received multiple Scholastic regional Gold and Silver Keys, the Celebrating Art High Merit Award, and merit scholarships from both the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and Interlochen Center for the Arts. Her artwork has been exhibited through student and community exhibitions and published in Celebrating Art.
